As far as I know there is no way to control what files of a torrent are downloaded first due to the very nature of a Torrent. If it were possible to do so then I would imagine Torrents would lose their viability for a method of downloading files quickly again, due to the nature in which torrents are executed. I recall looking something similar to this up a long time ago and was unable to find anything useful. This used to be an advanced option in uTorrent you could set for all torrents, but now the only way to do it is if you click on the torrent, go to the files tab below the torrent list, rick click the video, Copy Stream URL, open that up with a video player such as VLC and then it will set that file to download sequentially.
After that, you can either leave the video running closing the player should keep it downloading sequentially afterward. You can find an option in the "Options" tab to show detailed info or you can simply press F5. Now you can view the individual files from the torrent. Right click on any of the files and you'll find the option to Prioritize by File Order. One way would be to mark all Files as "Do Not Download" and then manually mark the files as "Highest Priority" one by one.
Of course, the speed will be affected because of this and there's the manual part. As I know you can do this on uTorrent. All you need to do is to download the latest version of uTorrent. Use bt. How to download files in torrents sequentially Ask Question. Asked 8 years ago. Active 1 year, 2 months ago. Viewed k times. Since people who have no understanding how bittorrent works often request that files or even pieces should be downloaded sequentially, here's an explanation why this is a very People already do abuse the Do Not Download priority to download files in order by downloading them one by one. This is especially noticeable visible on torrents with episodic content that can or should be consumed in a specific order.
If one looks at the piece availability distribution of such a torrent one can easily notice that it is skewed towards the first files in the "consuming order". If one looks at the piece lists of individual peers one notices that currently only a few peers are causing that already noticeable skew and other clients - where the users haven't given any priorities - even try to compensate due to their rarest-first piece selection method.
This generally leads to the situation that the peers that try to compensate the availability skew are not very interested in what the prioritizing ones have to offer and the prioritizing ones aren't interested at all in the compensating ones, esp. The relationship between multiple prioritizing peers is even worse. Attempts to download the selected torrents in sequential order.
